The green Florentine hills frame the Fattoria which, with a surface area of about 250 hectares, is situated at an average altitude of more than 300 meters above sea level.
The excellent exposure of the vineyards and olive groves to the sunlight, together with the altitude that allows them to escape the atmospheric conditions typical of the valley floor, make this area perfect for the production of the highest quality olive oils and wines.
About Twenty-six hectares of beautiful vineyards that include Sangiovese, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Ciliegiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Trebbiano, Malvasia and Verdeavarieties blanket and enliven with colour the hills surrounding Fattoria di Doccia.
More than 11,500 olive trees, comprising the Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo cultivars, make up the Fattoria’s valuable olive-growing heritage.
Chianti Rufina
Fattoria di Doccia is located in the Chianti Rufina production area that includes only 5 municipalities scattered among the hills east of Florence. The grape varieties from which this type of Chianti is regulated to be produced are predominantly Sangiovese, with the possible addition of other varieties best cultivated within the Tuscany region.
The characteristics of Chianti Rufina are its ruby-red colour and a harmonious, slightly tannic palate that over time becomes soft and velvety.
